Sugarland Practices Hurricane Response

June 1st marks the official start of hurricane season. While most predict this to be a mild season, the city of Sugarland is taking no chances with their preparation this year.

This weekend, the city will partner with the Texas State Guard to create a dress rehearsal for hurricane season. Hurricane Todd, a fictional hurricane, will make landfall on Friday. This exercise was initiated to allow participants to practice and evaluate their disaster response plans.

The Sugar Land Superstar competition is about to host its 9th summer of fresh local talent with open auditions Wednesday, May 21st in the Plaza of Sugar Land Town Square from 5 – 7 pm. The contest is essentially Sugar Land’s version of American Idol, rewarding its winner with a package of items from Town Square retailers and the chance to perform at future events.

If all goes according to plan, Houston will be the first US city to open a Tiger Woods Design golf course in 2015. Beacon Land Development announced this week that Bluejack National’s championship golf course will be designed by one of the game’s most elite players, Tiger Woods.
