Checkers looks to bring their burgers to Houston

From local joints to fast food staples, it's a known fact that Houstonians love their burgers. Soon, burger-lovers will have yet another option in that department.

Checkers, a Florida-based drive-in burger chain, is planning to expand to Houston no later than January of next year.

Katy Convention Center

The city of Katy is in the beginning stages of planning a massive project near Katy Mills Mall.

The expansion project would include a new convention center, an upscale hotel and a boardwalk system around an 80-acre pond.

Extensive growth in the Katy area and the close proximity to the energy corridor makes this new project very attractive. “We see a lot of opportunity to host mid-level conventions associated with the energy companies,” said Kayce Reina, director of tourism and marketing for Katy.

Texas State Technical College expansion plans include Fort Bend County

Texas State Technical College is eyeing an expanded presence in Fort Bend County.

TSTC has shared a campus with Wharton County Junior College in Richmond since 2001. While that campus educates roughly 1,400 students every year, only a small number of them are TSTC students.
