The Masquerade Ball is new this year at the Texas Renaissance Festival.

Dust off your ruff, noblemen and women! The Texas Renaissance Festival is in full swing. This season marks the festival’s 40th anniversary, and it’s already yielding record-breaking attendance numbers.

It would be uncharacteristic of the festival to turn 40 without a special celebration. Thus, planners have added a major event to this year’s lineup: King Midas’s Masquerade Ball. A new tented pavillion, dubbed King Midas’s Golden Court, has been constructed to host the event.

This athletic team wins gold in the most unpredictable sport.

Five local residents of Manvel and Rosharon are proud to be bringing home the gold medal for one of the most surprising athletic competitions you can imagine.

They are the winners of the 2014 National Skydiving Championships held this past September in Chicago. 30 other teams competed, but the Texas team SPX 5 won first place for the intermediate four-way formation skydiving event.

No one looks forward to visiting the hospital, especially when it’s a family member who’s ill. But at the Houston Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land, those in need will be able to find the greatest care from committed staff and nurses.

Such a family was facing strong concerns for their father as he began showing signs of an oncoming stroke. Despite their fears for his possible diagnosis, they came to Methodist Sugar Land and were met with extraordinary care and dedication by Nurse Ann Hernandez.
