Newmark Homes is not only helping Houston-area residents settle into their perfect homes, but also helping pets with Fort Bend County Animal Services find "furr-ever" homes.

Representatives from animal services are bringing adoptable pets to Newmark model homes during several special events, plus the builder is donating $250 to the organization for each visit.

Already one of Fort Bend’s largest dedicated dog spaces, Riverstone’s Bark Park just received a big addition — one that weighs about 500 pounds.


Holiday shoppers will find the Nov. 20 Riverstone Holiday Market a must-attend event, with dozens of vendors offering unique gift items for the entire family.

The annual market is set for 5-9 p.m. in the elegant surrounds of The Club at Riverstone, 18353 University Boulevard. In addition to shopping, event-goers will be treated to light hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails and a custom shopping bag. The event is open to the public; admission is one canned good, which will be donated to a local food pantry.

A new Fort Bend ISD elementary school will soon arise amidst the farmland and future new homes of Harvest Green, Fort Bend’s newest master-planned community and Houston’s first with an on-site farm, community and backyard gardens.
            Scheduled to open for the 2017-18 school year, the to-be-named elementary school will be located within the innovative Fort Bend community where residents will enjoy farm-fresh produce from an on-site farm co-op.  Plus, the new school will be connected to the community by several paved, hike-and-bike trails.

Schlumberger moves its headquarters to Sugar Land

On October 6, Schlumberger officially announced its plans to move its national headquarters to the City of Sugar Land as part of their long-term resource management strategy. Employing approximately 108,000 people working in more than 85 countries, Schlumberger provides the oil and gas industry’s widest range of products and services from exploration through production. The move is expected to be completed by 2017.

Christmas is in the air at Sienna Plantation’s 10th annual Gingerbread Market set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Club Sienna, 9600 Scanlan Trace.

Bargain hunters will be able to find a treasure trove of items during Riverstone’s semi-annual garage sale 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.

A variety of clothes, furniture, toys, books, games, kitchenware and more will be sold at the Creekstone Village Recreation Center, 5438 Creekstone Village Drive. More than 50 families are expected to participate.
